Fashion house, F.C.R.B., produces a diverse line of flamboyant soccer styled sportswear and accessories that are popular world-wide. Their collaboration with G-Shock recently yielded a limited edition DW5600 wristwatch that is rather conservative and stealthy compared to their normal fare. As is always the case, the watch does not introduce any new technology; its base is the standard DW5600 with F.C.R.B.s logo in the display, their distinctive camo branding on the packaging and the dial. MSRP is $189 and the watch evidently was soon sold out after its May 24, 2014 release. Continue reading

The No Operating System Watch —— G-Shock GBA-400
Other reviewers have praised Casio for the simplicity and ease of operation of the latest Bluetooth watch to carry G-Shock branding: GBA-400. Staying true to their legacy trade, the G-Shock people, smartly doing what they do best, have designed the product with incredible shock, wear, and water resistance. They stuffed in a load of features but managed to avoid an operating system. These watches control a few of the important operations of a smartphone, providing music remote control and telephony notifications. And that is it – no camera, microphone or gesturing an Android game. It would be a huge stretch to call them smartwatches. Compared to whiz-bang Apple, Sony, LG, Samsung, Motorola, et al, the GBA-400 comes off looking only slightly smarter than an oily canvas sack of cotter pins. Continue reading

Camo Stealth Fashion G-Shock
As a whole it is named #NeverBlendIn and it’s constituent parts are a scavenger hunt in Dallas, artists, Brent Rollins (including his art opening at G-Shock Soho) and Mason McFee (graphics artist and designerfor the scavenger hunt and new brand ambassador), introduction of the stealth and camo watches (below), on-line Profiles as part of printed G-Shock Zine, Premium Goods, a trip for two prize to the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach and there’s more.
But I can’t grasp it all – I am just now about to sit back, breathe heavy and shake my head. Casio calls it Interactive Cultural Experience Comes to Dallas to Celebrate Camouflage Timepiece Series. My name for it is only four letters long. Continue reading

When is a Baby-G not a Baby-G?
This is a trip down the scary path of rebranding. Maybe it is because “Baby-G” is such a poor choice of brand name to do business as, that Casio wanders into the unknown. But S series sounds a little more like it could reference something besides infants (which is what I think of when the word “baby” is used) or very small things (like when seeing a Smart for the first time, “oh, look at this adorable little baby car”). I’m figuring that Casio has determined that there are enough women who do not buy their stuff because it has a huge logo that says, “Baby-G” on it, that might now be interested in the same product when its huge logo is instead, “G-Shock.” Evidently in the “S series,” the S stands for small. More Crazy Colors G-Shock 2014
In what is becoming a yearly summertime mini-event, Casio is treating us to another group of disparite hodge-podge colorways that live up to their moniker, Crazy Colors. As far as the technology in these timepieces, there is nothing new to report. Based on G8900, Ga100, and GA110 designs, these watches behind the colorful package are familiar stuff. Continue reading
Fake G-Shock Watches
Proliferation of counterfeit watches is increasing and acceptance of it (amazon, eBay, et al) is abominable. These examples are part of a full catalog of G-Shock look-alikes. These rip-off artists not only do such a comprehensive job of covering all the best sellers, they do so with impunity on a full blown website – features, benefits, pictures, company profile, the works. It is not this blogs responsibility to police this illicit activity but it sure is important to us that none of our readers get sucked into a bad buy. Don’t buy this shit, folks.
Think yours is a fake?
Should you need to compare your G-shock with known knock-offs, click on the “Mysteries of the Orient” image to the right. We have about 120 examples so far and are accumulating more all the time. Other sources of information about counterfeit products are mygshock.com and watchuseek.com.
