Anyone with some knowledge of the history of personal timepieces is aware that the Hamilton brand is over a century old and that it has been a company that has brought innovation and high quality products to the market since it’s inception. My grandfather owned a 992b 16 open face Hamilton that his father gave him in the 1920s. I’ll never forget the satisfaction on his face every time he pulled it out to let us all know it was time to get our chores done and head back to the house for supper. I think he loved that old timepiece as much as he did my grandmother.

New G-Shocks September 2011

Several updated watches are announced for release in Japan in the coming months, some collaborations and one new model. Pictured (after the jump) are the new models GW-8900A-1JF, GW-8900-1JF, GW-8900A-7JF, the Men in Smoky Gray; Riseman GW-9200GYJ-1JF, Gulfman GW-9110GY-1JF and Mudman GW-9300GY-1JF, the Nigel Sylvester X Gshock, the GranRodeo X G-shock and the GA-100’s that are a new colorway – all of which are nice but are rather unremarkable.

The new Protrek PRW-2500 and PRW-2500T (for Japanese distribution – PRW2500-1 & PRW2500T-7 in the US) sport altimeter, barometer, temperature and compass functions with the convenience of solar power and Atomic time-setting. Other features include, world time, tide and moon data, 24 hour stopwatch, 60 minute countdown timer, five daily alarms, 12/24 hour function and full automatic EL backlight. The improved dual-layer LCD display technology enhances readability and allows for denser packing of these wrist computers’ copious information.

Storm of London Streetwise Wristwear

Storm of London already had an interesting, edgy offering of wrist watches and then for 2011 they exploded with wild new colorways and kick-ass designs. All of the new products are quite reasonably priced and are all available on-line now – you don’t have to wait like some manufacturers make you. A few of the pieces are limited edition, so if you are a collector, here’s another opportunity to sock away some wearable equity.

Meister – New Models, New Colors

It’s hard to know where the Meister designers might have been heading when they started, but now it’s becoming more evident with the release of each new model – this is a clubbing, hip-hop and street savvy line that we’ll see especially on the wrists of guys that spend the money for top-shelf branded apparel and know how to mix it up for a distinctive look. And look who’s rockin’ Meistro these days; CeeLo, SnoopDog, Peanutbutter Wolf, Drama, and even dk-head Terrell Owens

Magic 8-ball, Nixon Future is Bright

Boy do we love seeing a competitor of G-Shock come up with a feature that we’ll never see on a MudMan (or whatever). This one is too cool.. Magic 8-ball fortune telling – just ask it a question, press a button and back it comes with your vague answer – for instance, “Why not” Oh, so profound.. What a feature! Eat your heart out, Casio.
