G-SHOCK 6900 Series Round-Up 2015

All but one of the watches below is GD-X6900 which is slightly more expensive than the standard DW6900. The GD-Xs are wider, thicker, and feature 10 year battery life, full auto calendar (to 2099), flash and buzzer alerts,and the handy auto “Super Illuminator.” Otherwise they are G-Shock through and through with the durability, dependability, all resin band and case, accuracy, alarms, and timer as you would expect from them.

Fall ’14 – Camo Fashion Sports G-Shock

Now comes another wave of camouflage patterned digital watches from G-Shock. These new colorways add to the wide selection of GLS-8900 products that are designed to appeal to sports fashion oriented buyers that can benefit from the dual stopwatch feature, tide data, and –20ºC low temperature resistance that these watches provide.
Other features, such as auto “super illuminator,” world time, full auto calendar, and two year battery life expectancy continue to keep the watch a strong value in todays market.
Now, it might occur to you that the features are a little discordant – in what situation would one need low temperature resistance and surfing (tide) information at the same time? But for that one time that such a combination would occur (I, for the life of me, have not yet come up with one), you would have to smile and think, “what amazing insight these guys have!”

GA-400 – Rotary Switch G-Shock

New colorways are soon to be added to the recently introduced GA-400 category: analog-digital, mostly edgy street fashion designed to appeal to those looking for a skateboard/sneakerhead ’90s style of big and extra-bold watch statement.

Rescue Orange Series

In a fashion-wise and fitting move, Casio is releasing an all orange (band and case around black dials with white indicia) mixed set of slightly vintage style watches called the Rescue Orange Series.

F.C.Real Bristol X G-Shock 2014

Fashion house, F.C.R.B., produces a diverse line of flamboyant soccer styled sportswear and accessories that are popular world-wide. Their collaboration with G-Shock recently yielded a limited edition DW5600 wristwatch that is rather conservative and stealthy compared to their normal fare. As is always the case, the watch does not introduce any new technology; its base is the standard DW5600 with F.C.R.B.s logo in the display, their distinctive camo branding on the packaging and the dial. MSRP is $189 and the watch evidently was soon sold out after its May 24, 2014 release.

As a whole it is named #NeverBlendIn and it’s constituent parts are a scavenger hunt in Dallas, artists, Brent Rollins (including his art opening at G-Shock Soho) and Mason McFee (graphics artist and designerfor the scavenger hunt and new brand ambassador), introduction of the stealth and camo watches (below), on-line Profiles as part of printed G-Shock Zine, Premium Goods, a trip for two prize to the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach and there’s more.

But I can’t grasp it all – I am just now about to sit back, breathe heavy and shake my head. Casio calls it Interactive Cultural Experience Comes to Dallas to Celebrate Camouflage Timepiece Series. My name for it is only four letters long.

In what is becoming a yearly summertime mini-event, Casio is treating us to another group of disparite hodge-podge colorways that live up to their moniker, Crazy Colors. As far as the technology in these timepieces, there is nothing new to report. Based on G8900, Ga100, and GA110 designs, these watches behind the colorful package are familiar stuff.

Well, they finally did it; spun gold from goo. With a new coloring technology and their previously developed metallic paint-like technique, Casio’s resin engineers have perfected a finish that mimics gold in all its sparkling glory.

This is a new model, themed “gear motif” in it’s dramatic three-dimensional face layout, is G-Shock’s most busy dial to date. It first appeared as a 30th anniversary model, GA-303B, in a blue and black colorway. It, like it’s predecessors in the various GA lines, (the analog-digital hybrids,) is large (52mm), features anti-magnetic movement, and has the signature integrated resin strap with doule-tang buckle fastener.

The G100-1BV and the DW5600E-1V are the kind of watches you want to have ready to go when you are about to mow the lawn, go with your buds to play beach volleyball or spend a Saturday at war in a paintball skirmish – when you need a watch and you need it to be bullitproof; literally.

CLOT X G-Shock DW6900CL-4

CLOT is a fashion design firm based in Hong Kong. Their collaboration with Casio has produced a stunning red jelly-gummy-like DW6900 that was showcased at G-Shock’s 30th anniversary event.

Well, evidently, Casio is still tinkering with their resin molds ’cause they are about to release the new crocodile textured G-Shocks (nick-named “the reptiles” by Casio) that they claim they can now produce because of some new technology.
