Also, these models have rotating bezels that are handy when using the compass in the field. The PRW-2500 (PRW2500-1) has a sillicone band in a typical black finish and the PRW-2500T (PRW2500T-7) has a titanium band and an all-over metallic finish. Prices are respectively (in USD, for US distributed versions) $300. and $400, which is quite reasonable considering the abundance of useful features and sophisticated technology. The following video is from watch-tanaka.com in Japan. Check out the working details of this amazing timepiece.

UPDATE – September 2, 2011
The PWR-2500-1JF (black) is now shipping in Japan. Evidently, the PWR-2500T-7JF will not hit the streets there until the end of the month.
UPDATE – September 15, 2011
Evidently the PWR-2500T-7 has made it at least as far as Watch Tanaka. Here is a video that they posted earlier today-

ArtDirik just posted this picture of his new Protrek (and compares it to his higher profile Mudman 9300) on Watchuseek. He notes there are a few minor shortcomings but that, so far, he is happy with his purchase.

Casio ProTrek PRW5000Y-1
Analog Alternative

August 30, 2011
..Though hard to find (so far) at a discount through the normal channels, the Protrek PRW5000Y-1 is a timepiece worthy of your consideration. Uber functional for adventuring individuals with it’s ABC&T features, it is not a geeky looking LED hocky puck that we are used to seeing in the Pathfinder-Protrek form factor, but has instead, a sleek, conservative, almost dressy appearance. Using it’s uniquely designed second hand to indicate compass direction, altimiter and barometric pressure readings, it avoids the confusing digital menu-mode trees that often send the user scrambling back to the manual for help; a case for “simple is better.”
..Quoted from CasioUSA.com, “This ana-digi Triple Sensor ProTrek lets you enjoy all of the intuitiveness of analog readouts and the accuracy of digital values. When using the compass mode, the second hand points to magnetic north. When measuring altitude, the second hand indicates the difference between your current altitude and a starting point altitude. While measuring atmospheric pressure, the second hand indicates the current barometric pressure tendency. Highlighted with a blue IP bezel and easy-to-use buttons, this ProTrek provides quick access to vital information wherever your adventure takes you.”
