Casio presented Mark Webber, the Formula One Champion, with his prototype EFR520-RB Edifice Watch and he went off to win the Monoco Gran Prix – go figure.
Since the Casio sponsorship began in 2009, the Red Bull team has triumphed stunningly, Webber and Vettel sharing second place. In first place, Farrari’s Fernando Alanzo has a relationship with watchsellers, Viceroy, Oakley, and Farrari (by Panerai). But it is the Red Bull team that’s getting all the attention and their sponsors are benefitting grandly from it all.
It’s a handsome watch, classic style, not overly large, certainly not ostentatious with the business end of it in mostly black with white details and an oyster-like bracelet in a brushed metallic finish. And as far as features are concerned, it’s middle of the road Edifice: all analog dial, three sub-dials, crown and two (slightly mis-matched) pushers to control the stopwatch function with its split and first and second place time ability.
Since this product has not been announced to be distributed in the USA, it’s not so easy to get. Dealers in Tokyo and Hong Kong seem to have plenty of them (for now) and are selling them in the $400 plus shipping range and up.
Japanese watch seller watchtanaka.com provides us with a close look at the watch:
The following video was published on Casio’s European site, casio-europe.com/nl/news and is here as a convenience to those fans of Mark Webber who will certainly enjoy a few minutes with him in a relaxed setting while he lightheartedly comments about himself and the watches he is endorsing.
The following interview will give the viewer an idea about what makes Mark Webber tick.
